Metropolitan Golf Club appoints Crafter & Mogford as consulting architects

Crafter & Mogford Golf Strategies has been appointed as consulting golf course architects at The Metropolitan Golf Club in Melbourne, Australia.

The firm’s first task will be to carry out a comprehensive redesign of the club’s practice facilities, and Neil Crafter and Paul Mogford will visit the course during the Australian Masters tournament, which begins on 20 November.

The Metropolitan Golf Club’s board decided to employ an architect to ‘develop concepts and plans for the redevelopment of the practice facilities’, according to a statement on its website. The statement also said that the appointed architect ‘would also advise on the future refinement of the course’.

Crafter & Mogford have been active for many years at a range of courses predominantly in the Australian cities of Melbourne and Adelaide. The firm notably designed and oversaw the implementation of a nine hole, par three course, as well as the development of new practice facilities, at The Barwon Heads Golf Club in the state of Victoria.

“My partner Neil Crafter and I are honoured to be entrusted with the role of the club’s course consultant,” said the firm’s principal Paul Mogford. “We believe we have a strong and clear vision for the course at Metropolitan and its practice facilities, and are passionate about the tasks ahead of us.”
