New course opens at Thailand’s Siam Country Club

A new 18-hole course has opened at the Siam Country Club near Pattaya, Thailand.

The Waterside course was designed by IMG Design and complements the existing 45 holes at the resort, which is located approximately 80 miles from Thailand’s capital city Bangkok.

The par-72, 7,407 yard Waterside course and becomes the third to bear the Siam Country Club name, the others being the nearby Old course and Plantation course.

The Old course opened in 1971 and was designed by I. Izumi. The Plantation course opened in 2008 and was designed by the Schmidt-Curley firm, who also carried out a redesign and renovation of the Old course in 2007.

Siam Country Club is owned by the Siam Motors Group, and the company’s president Phornthep Phornprapha said: “Our vision for the Waterside Course was to create something very unique from our existing courses and to provide golfers with an experience that is fun and memorable.  The Waterside course is certainly very playable for golfers of all abilities and very unique given the integration of the gentle topography and water features that existed on this very special site.”
