New putting green installed at Help for Heroes’ Northern Recovery Centre
Huxley Golf has installed a large putting green at the Help for Heroes’ Northern Recovery centre.
Located at Phoenix House in Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire, the project is the third installation Huxley has carried out at the charity’s recovery centres in the UK.
Comprised of Huxley Golf Premier Nylon Putting Turf, the new green measures 76 square yards and features six holes. A 35mm fringe surround of Huxley Golf Leisure Turf has also been laid.
The new facility will be used by short stay, day visitors and guests to Phoenix House, and will be used to help encourage and support the recovery efforts of those at the centre.
“This was an interesting project in terms of its design,” said Paul Chester, general manager at Huxley Golf. “The original idea was to position the new putting green on a hilly grassed area but, working in partnership with the management team, we concluded that the site was too steep. Our solution was to convert a disused bowls court. The result not only looks fantastic but importantly, it is easy for all visitors to access, regardless of injury. We’re extremely proud to have created a golf facility at three out of four Help for Heroes Recovery Centres.”
The green has been funded by the Wasps Legends Charitable Foundation.
