Nicklaus returns to Los Cabos for second Quivira course

Nicklaus Design will break ground on its second course at Quivira Los Cabos in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, in the last quarter of 2022.

To be situated in the northwest area of the 1,850-acre development, the new course will include holes that meander through rolling desert foothills and valleys, interlaced by winding arroyos. The southern portion of the layout will feature panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of California, while the Sierra de la Laguna mountain range will provide the backdrop for the northern side of the course.

Speaking about the original course at Quivira, which opened in 2014, Nicklaus said: “This property afforded us a rare opportunity because of its topographic diversity and natural environment. Our team worked with the canvas Mother Nature provided to create one of the most spectacular courses in the world.”

The new course will be playable for residents at the Old Lighthouse Club, a private community within the Quivira resort.

“The first golf course at Quivira is a spectacular layout playing across a remarkable piece of property,” said Nicklaus. “Now, I am excited that design is well underway on the second course at Quivira, which should be stunning and equally as spectacular. I hope golfers who play the second course will enjoy the views, the quality of golf, and the challenge.”
