Night golf beckons for renovated Rolling Hills layout in Tempe

Grass Clippings at Rolling Hills in Tempe, Arizona, has opened for play following a four-month renovation project.

The former Rolling Hills Golf Course was taken over by golf merchandise brand Grass Clippings on 1 July 2023 and Troon assumed management of daily operations on the same day.  Jackson Kahn Design, Grass Clippings’ director of agronomy Scott Hebert and Casa Verde Golf have now completed renovation work on the course, including a new ninth hole, new tees, a new irrigation system and a new 15,000-square-foot practice green.

Construction crews are currently finishing the installation of LED lighting around the property, and night golf – set-up as a par 54 layout – will be available from December.

“We’re excited to reopen and show off the progress that has been made on the golf course and the new lighting,” said Grass Clippings CEO Jake Hoselton. “Our agronomy team, led by director of agronomy Scott Hebert, has done an incredible job of improving course conditions and consistency. When we turn on the lights in a few weeks, it’s going to be a game changer for golf in the Valley.”

Work on the clubhouse, the new hilltop and patio bars, activity lawn and video display, are set for completion in autumn 2024.
