Olympic effect among topics discussed at 2015 HSBC Golf Industry Forum

The HSBC Golf Industry Forum is currently taking place in Shanghai, China.

Attendees at the event, which is being held at the city’s Pudong Shangri- La Hotel, yesterday enjoyed an opening presentation from Giles Morgan, global head of golf at HSBC Sport (pictured).

Yesterday also saw presentations from a number of leading industry figures, with topics such as leadership, sustainability and guardians of the game being discussed in the morning session.

Monday’s afternoon session saw discussions on the emergence of the Asian golf market and how to engage with technology-savvy customers.

Roundtable session topics held this morning included unlocking golf’s full potential and creating great golf destinations. The afternoon session saw a presentation on the life of the modern golf professional, with PGA pro Rickie Fowler taking to the stage to discuss the demands of his profession.

The day also saw John Solheim, CEO of Karsten Manufacturing, receive the 2015 HSBC Golf Business Forum – Lifetime Achievement to Golf award, and concluded with a discussion on the effect of the game’s return to the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil next year. 

The event concludes tomorrow with the HSBC Golf Business Forum Golf Tournament.
