PalmGolf Marrakech – Ourika course opens for play in Morocco

A new golf course has opened for public play near Marrakech, Morocco.

The PalmGolf Marrakech – Ourika course has been designed by Neil Haworth of Nelson & Haworth and Stéphane Talbot of Talbot Golf Design.

Developed by the Palmeraie Development Group, the new course will act as a sister course to the Robert Trent Jones Sr-designed PalmGolf Marrakech – Palmeraie venue.

The course will be operated by Troon, and will become the firm’s fifth course in Morocco.

“Morocco has seen continued growth in rounds for a number of years, gathering a loyal client base from across Europe and further afield,” said Jon Schauder, business development director, international division and area director – Europe, Troon. “These are extremely positive times for the country and we’re excited to be part of this development with Palmeraie Development Group, strengthening the existing relationship.”

The course plays 6,692 metres and has been described as a semi-desert, Arizona-style layout.

“We are extremely honoured to welcome this new course to the PalmGolf Morocco family,” said Stéphane Talbot. “It is our goal to create an extraordinary experience for our members and guests by offering them excellent service, facilities and superior playing surfaces. The signature 17th hole will certainly leave a lasting impression on our guests, with its island green surrounded by sand.”
