Pizá designs ‘Ranch’ layout on 25 acres in Mexico

Agustin Pizá has designed a new golf facility at a private ranch estate in Mexico.

The ‘Ranch’ project expands upon Pizá’s ‘Wellness Golf’ concept developed for Chablé Resort in Mexico.

For the Ranch, Pizá has designed a flexible layout that can be configured to be played in loops of three, nine, twelve and eighteen. The design includes four large greens that can accommodate multiple pins, and the set-up includes holes that play as par threes, fours and fives.

“I feel this is one of my most complete designs and epitomises multi-purpose golf,” said Pizá. “It is strategic, inspirational, artistic, and the par threes can be penal depending on what format the players choose. I am extremely proud of the ‘Ranch’. It is quite an accomplishment to design an entertaining 18-hole golf circuit on a 25-acre space that can be played as a 7,000-yard par 72.”

To consume less water and preserve the land’s natural environment, the design team only used 10 acres for grass, with the remaining 15 acres remaining intact. “During the creative process, the team decided the Ranch should appear like it had always existed on the site,” said Pizá.

The course’s cart paths can also be used as a dirt bike track.

The Ranch project is expected to be completed in autumn 2022.
