Poppy Hills renovation underway
Work has begun on the renovation of Poppy Hills Golf Course in California.
The Northern California Golf Association (NCGA) is managing the process, and the renovation will be done by the design firm Robert Trent Jones II – the same firm that designed the original course in 1986.
Scheduled to be completed in early 2014, the renovation will include less contouring on greens, course-wide sand capping and wider fairways. The greens will also be brought down to the natural grade of the land and will be shifted closer to hazards where possible.
In addition, the renovation will see the replacement of the current irrigation system to improve the management of water usage. Other changes will include a redesign and lessening of doglegs to aid the natural flow of the course, as well as a renovation of the clubhouse, including the restaurant and restroom facilities.
