Red Ledges adds forward tees to help develop new golfers

New forward tees have been added to the Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course at the Red Ledges private community in Utah, USA.

The new Golden Bear tees at Red Ledges – which has a mission “to provide enjoyable golf experiences for everyone who picks up a club” – have been designed into fairways, allowing the course, which is 7,569 yards from the back tees, to be played at a total of 3,700 yards.

With an average hole length of 206 yards, the new tees are designed to encourage new golfers, juniors, and those with slower swing speeds to enjoy the award-winning course. They also allow all golfers to play 18 holes in far less time than from the four sets of regulation tees.

This initiative follows the 2016 opening of a 12-hole course at Red Ledges, also created by Nicklaus Design, comprised of par threes from 60 to 180 yards, laid out in a park atmosphere that offers plenty of room for “playing soccer, tossing frisbees, walking the dog, and just about any other outdoor activity.”

“To add to our success with the golf park, the objectives with the Golden Bear tees are to develop new golfers, promote options for faster play, and have more fun on the championship golf course,” said Derek Butts, the head golf professional at Red Ledges. “The new tees make it more playable and give more players an opportunity to reach the green in regulation on the par fours and fives, or for better players to get around faster.”

The new course has been rated, so golfers can play with their handicaps and post scores.
