Regrassing for Bonaventure's greens

Bonaventure Country Club in Fort Lauderdale Florida has closed its East course for a renovation project that will include regrassing of its greens and the replacement of the sand in all of the course's bunkers is proud to announce that the club will undergo a significant restoration of the property.

The East course, originally designed by Joe Lee, is getting new TifEagle ultradwarf bermuda grass on its greens. The project is expected to take between eight and ten weeks, with the course reopening in time for the Thanksgiving holiday in the US.

Contractor Greenway Golf Company, which recently signed on to maintain the club's two courses, is in charge of the renovation. “The opportunity to be the golf course maintenance partner with Bonaventure's improvement plans is a perfect fit,” said Greenway COO Ken Campbell. “Our company's unique Greenway Methods and renovation expertise, in the region at Bahamas Bakers Bay, Orlando's Waldorf Astoria and nearby at Davie G&CC, supported by the new vision from the club ownership will provide outstanding turf conditions year round.”

While construction on the course is under way, the pro shop, clubhouse, locker rooms and driving range will receive extensive remodelling in preparation for the winter season.

New general manager Randy Weber, who served as golf professional at Bonaventure from 1988-1996 is overseeing the project.
