Renovation completed at Stockton Seaview’s Bay course

A renovation of the Bay Course at the Stockton Seaview Hotel & Golf Club has been completed ahead of the Shoprite LPGA Classic event, which begins next week.

Managed by Troon Golf, the course in New Jersey has seen new tee boxes introduced on the fourth, fifth, tenth and twelfth holes, adding 150 yards to the course’s overall length.

A new bunker complex has also been introduced between the fourth and fifth holes, and the Bay course’s existing tee boxes and tee surfaces have been rebuilt to create a more consistent playing surface.

Stockton Seaview is home to two 18-hole courses – the Bay course and the Pines course – as well as the Bird Golf Academy.

The Bay course was designed by Donald Ross and hosted the PGA Championship in 1942.

The front nine holes of the Pines course were designed in 1927 by architectural firm Toomey and Flynn, with William Gordon adding a second nine and upgraded the existing holes in 1957.

Stockton Seaview’s Bay course will host the ShopRite LPGA Classic from 26 May –1 June 2014.

Kevin DeDonato, PGA Director of Golf at Seaview Hotel & Golf Club, said: “The course renovation will create a greater playing experience for the ladies of the LPGA, as well as golfers of all levels, and we are very excited that this project is being completed during our centennial in 2014.”
