Renovations get underway at Forest Creek Golf Club in Texas

A comprehensive renovation of the course at Forest Creek Golf Club in Round Rock, Texas, has begun.

The Forest Creek course was originally designed by Dick Phelps, and is located about 10 miles north of the Texas state capital – Austin.

All 18 greens on the course will be rebuilt to USGA specifications, as will the practice putting green and chipping green.

Bunkers throughout the course will be reconstructed, while work will be done to improve drainage on low lying areas. A new irrigation system will also be put in place.

The creation of an optional nineteenth hole also forms part of the project, which has been approved by the City of Round Rock – the course’s owners, and is being overseen by operators KemperSports.

The course’s driving range is being renovated, while infrastructure such as bridges will be worked on.

Selected trees will be removed, and native grasses will be planted to help enhance the course aesthetically.

“We are confident that this renovation will set Forest Creek Golf Club on a path for continued success,” said Steve Skinner, CEO of KemperSports. “The city’s investment in the course will solidify Forest Creek as the Hill Country’s Home for Golf for many years to come.”

Work commenced earlier this month, and the course is set to reopen in late summer 2018.
