St Kitts resort breaks ground
Terra Forma Developments has broken ground at its new Kittitian Hill resort on the Caribbean island of St Kitts.
The US$300 million project, which occupies a 400 acre hillside site on the 68 sq m island, includes a golf course, to be called Mango Walk. European Golf Design’s Gary Johnston is the project architect for the course, which will be an Ian Woosnam signature design. Caribbean hospitality consultancy MacLellan & Associates is acting as development advisor.
Property buyers at Kittitian Hill will potentially qualify for St Kitts and Nevis’s Citizenship by Investment programme, which gives purchasers the opportunity to acquire a local passport – which in turn gives visa-free travel to countries including the entire European Union. Denzil Douglas, the island’s prime minister, and Val Kempadoo, the resort’s MD, jointly performed the groundbreaking ceremony.
“I am pleased that Phase I of Kittitian Hill will produce over 350 jobs during construction and over 1,200 permanent jobs thereafter. Phase II will then produce some 800 additional, permanent jobs for the people of St Kitts and Nevis,” said Dr Douglas. The resort is expected to open in late 2012.
