Städler Golf Courses to add nine holes at Armada Golf Club

The number of holes at the Armada Golf Club in Bytom, Poland, is to double, with Städler Golf Courses leading the project.

Christoph Städler was the architect behind the club’s recently opened nine hole course, which was built on the site of the former Szombierki coal mine in Bytom, and has drawn out plans for the new nine.

The current course was built among former mining ponds and greenery on rolling terrain, and Armada was the first course build on a post-mining area in Poland.

The eighteen hole course will form part of a wider project that aims to create a new district of the city of Bytom, which will also include residential housing, a nursing home and commercial buildings.

The new nine holes will see 2.5 km of drainage installed, and 4 km of irrigation.

A renovation of the iconic Krystyna mineshaft is also planned, a fine example of modernist industrial architecture in the region that is located on the site.

The project is backed with investment from Armada Development, part of the GC Investment Group, based in Katowice.
