Summer 2021 issue of ASGCA’s By Design magazine is out now

The Summer 2021 issue of By Design magazine from the American Society of Golf Course Architects is now available in digital format.

The cover story – Keeping it simple – showcases several projects where a ‘less is more’ approach to golf course design has been adopted to improve both a club’s operational efficiency and the golf experience. These clubs, from across the United States, have found success in reducing sand, turf and even holes at their facilities.

Arthur Hills is described by his long-time colleague Steve Forrest as “a distinguished professional practitioner and humble gentlemen”. Following his death last month, By Design learns more about Hills and his career from those who worked with him.

Also in this issue, Stacie Zinn Roberts and Dr Yanqi Wu consider the real-world performance of the new Tahoma 31 Bermudagrass; there is a showcase of some designs created for ‘The Great Junior Golf Design Challenge of 2021’; Jeff Brauer discusses the value of golf course architecture, in an extract from the new ‘Designs on a Better Golf Course’ book; and Nathan Crace provides insight into one of the sketches he prepared for Colonial CC in Tennessee.

By Design is free of charge – visit the By Design page of the ASGCA website to subscribe and review the back catalogue of digital editions.
