Sweetens Cove to break ground on new short course in spring 2025

Construction of a new nine-hole par-three course, designed by King-Collins, at Sweetens Cove Golf Club in South Pittsburg, Tennessee, will begin in spring 2025.

The new short layout is part of an expansion project – made possible by Sweetens Cove partnering with investment and development company Reef Capital – which includes a new putting green, cabins, fishing dock, shooting range, restaurant and distillery.

Reef Capital also operates Black Desert Resort and Marcella Club in Utah and Cutalong in Virginia.

“We are incredibly excited to announce that, thanks to this new partnership, every big dream we ever had for the place will be coming true,” wrote Rob Collins on the firm’s Instagram page. “I have vivid memories of sitting on the porch a decade ago hoping that one day we could have cabins, a short course and a home of Sweetens Cove whiskey. All of these elements will be added over the coming years.”

Jared Lucero, CEO of Reef Capital, said: “Sweetens Cove grabs you the moment you step onto the course – there’s an energy here that you won’t find anywhere else. It’s not just about golf; it’s about the experience, the people and the simplicity of spending a day out here. We aim to preserve that unique charm while adding a place to stay, a bit more to do, including ‘Sweetens at Night’, and some amazing food and drinks. Those things will only make every visit even more memorable, whether you’re playing the course for the first time or the hundredth.”

The short course is expected to open in 2026.
