Troon supports Get Golf Ready

Management firm Troon is to designate this October as ‘Player Development Month’.

Along with the PGA of America's Get Golf Ready programme, more than 70 Troon facilities throughout the United States will be hosting introductory golf clinics designed to introduce juniors and beginners to the game in a fun, affordable and educational way.

To make these clinics accessible to as many people as possible, Troon will charge US$20 for adults, while juniors 17 years of age and younger are free. Each participant will also be automatically entered into a drawing to win one of five Callaway Golf starter sets. At the conclusion of each clinic, participants will have the opportunity to register for a Get Golf Ready programme, including five additional instructional classes, for US$99.

“Growing participation in our game is critical to the success of our industry,” said Troon's John Easterbrook. “We take our responsibility to be a leader in growing the game very seriously and by partnering with the PGA of America, we are confident that our combined efforts will make a strong impact on encouraging more people to experience the joy and entertainment that golf provides. We strongly believe that making beginners’ introduction to golf more fun and affordable will result in more dedicated players adopting the sport.”

Now in its fourth year, Get Golf Ready has introduced the game to thousands of adults who have never played golf or who have minimal experience in the game. Overall, participants learn techniques regarding chipping, putting, full swing, half swing and bunker play, as well as the fundamental guidelines of use and maintenance of golf equipment, keeping score and navigating the course. Significant on-course learning opportunities are part of each lesson, as well as background on the game’s rules, etiquette, history and values.
