Trump Turnberry set to reopen Ailsa course following Ebert renovation

Trump Turnberry in Scotland will reopen its Ailsa course on 1 June following a renovation by Martin Ebert of Mackenzie & Ebert.

Construction began in October 2024, with Ebert renovating the seventh and eighth holes.

Work on the par-five seventh includes relocating the green to a new position close to the site’s coastline, while the par-four eighth has had its tees relocated to the right in order to straighten the fairway from the tee and eliminate the blind approach shot. Ebert has also undertaken bunker work to suit the new alignment.

“On the new seventh hole, we wanted to make the most of Turnberry’s stunning location by moving the green right to the coastal edge,” said Ebert. “There aren’t many links courses where you have greens right on the cliff edge – so that is very special in its own right.

“For hole eight, it made a lot of sense to move the tees over to the right and produce a much better hole. The tee shot will be far improved with the new alignment, making the hole visually stunning from your first shot to your last.”

Other work includes new banking behind the twelfth and fifteenth greens, tweaks to the thirteenth and tee updates on holes fourteen and seventeen.

“We, together with the owner, are always looking for ways to elevate the entire offering at Trump Turnberry,” said Nic Oldham, general manager at Trump Turnberry. “This includes the Ailsa and there is nobody better than Martin Ebert when it comes to taking this course to a new level.

“We look forward to welcoming guests back to experience the best ever iteration of this historic course, including the seventh hole – which now boasts one of the most picturesque and thrilling greens in the UK – and a much-improved new alignment for the eighth.”
