Vietnam's Twin Doves opens
The new Twin Doves golf club in Vietnam’s Binh Duong province has opened.
The 27 hole complex, designed by American architect Peter Rousseau, is part of a development that aims to become Vietnam’s first true private members’ club. In addition to the golf course, on completion, Twin Doves will include fairway villas, serviced apartments, recreational facilities, a hotel and conference centre and an international school.
Twin Doves is also the first course in Vietnam to be grassed with golfers Platinum TE paspalum, which was developed in 2007 by Dr Ron Duncan and Turf Ecosystems. Twin Doves’ management selected Platinum for its ability to maintain performance characteristics despite South Vietnam’s climate of frequent rain and clouds. Platinum is distributed in Asia by Atlas Turf International.
“From the beginning, I noticed quick establishment at low heights of cut,” said Roger Jones, Twin Doves’ director of grounds “I cut greens at 2.5mm every day and yet I have roughs at 50 mm and some grassy hollows at 100 mm. I don’t think there is another turfgrass on the market that can claim this much variance in height of cut from one variety.”
