Weiskopf's Hawaiian course opens

The new Kukui’ula course on the Hawaiian island of Kauai has opened.

Designed by Tom Weiskopf’s firm, the course is part of a new luxury residential community developed by US firms DMB Associates and A&B Properties on the southern coast of the island.

“Tom Weiskopf has designed the golf course to complement the island’s rolling terrain, dramatic view planes and trade winds,” said Brian Paul, Kukui‘ula’s head professional. The 7,000 yard course has been grassed with paspalum turf. All fairways were sandcapped.

Kukui’ula also includes a US$100 million club facility that serves as the social and recreational hub of the community. Members have access to the Plantation House, golf clubhouse, 20,000 sq ft spa, fitness facilities, a movement studio for yoga and pilates, a collection of swimming pools and locker rooms.

Kukui’ula, named after the kukui or candlenut torches that once guided fisherman back home to the island, includes a portfolio of ocean-view home sites and cottages. Homes range in size from 1,500-3,800 sq ft, and start at US$2.2 million, with custom home sites beginning at US$1 million.
