Work begins on new course in Sweden by Henrik Stenson and Christian Lundin

Construction is under way on a new eighteen-hole course by Henrik Stenson Golf Design near Helsingborg in southern Sweden.

Crownwood Club is being developed by Stenson, golf course architect Christian Lundin and golf investor Arild Karlsen from Norway.

“It is now more than 10 years since I first set foot on the property,” said Lundin. “It is a wonderful site with pine trees and pure sand as deep as you can dig. Together with the coastal location it has all the ingredients of a great golf course. It can truly become one of the best golf experiences in Europe!”

As well as the main eighteen-hole course for the private club, there will be an 11-hole course that is open for public play, a clubhouse, gym, spa and open-plan office space, to allow members to work while away from their home or office.

Stenson and Lundin are working alongside GEO Foundation to ensure a sustainable approach to the project, as well as agronomic consultancy Turfgrass and irrigation firm Rain Bird.

“It’s such a one-of-a-kind opportunity to be able to add all our experiences from a life in the golf industry and create our own facility,” said Stenson. “I am so proud of what my team and I are trying to achieve and the type of golf courses we will create. It will be unique to this part of the world, and it feels great to be able to do this for golf in Sweden. I’m eagerly looking forward to the opening in 2025.”
