Zinkand continues renovation of Wisconsin’s Big Foot

Zinkand Golf Design has started a second phase of renovation work at Big Foot Country Club in Wisconsin.

“Big Foot is set across striking natural terrain punctuated by meandering streams and spring-fed ponds,” said architect David Zinkand. “These traits, when combined with Mr Bendelow’s Golden Age philosophies, give us an incredible canvas to work with.”

The first phase was completed in autumn 2024 and focused on repositioning bunkers to better capitalise on the terrain and increase shot options.

The second phase includes widening playing corridors, increasing pinnable areas on greens, relocating tees, infrastructure updates and regrassing all playing surfaces. Also, holes twelve, thirteen and fourteen will be rerouted with the aim of improving the course’s flow. Several Norway spruce trees will be removed to reveal long views and mature oak trees.

“We’re excited to kick off phase two of the master plan with Dave and his team,” said Matthew Leinen, superintendent at Big Foot Country Club. “They’re such phenomenal partners as they view their work through the lens of my team and how we’re going to have to maintain the golf course after the updates are made. This holistic and long-term approach to design is very welcomed.”
