Westhaven GC set to reopen following greens project by Billy Fuller

Westhaven Golf Club in Franklin, Tennessee, will reopen for member play this week following a greens renovation overseen by golf course architect Billy Fuller.

The first phase of the project, completed this summer, has included the redesign of six greens, a new practice green and converting all putting surfaces to TifEagle bermuda grass.

“I am very pleased with the results of our first phase,” said general manager Mark Lammi. “Billy Fuller’s new green complex designs will both excite the more skilled players and give the higher handicap golfers better playability. Southern Land’s commitment to a full conversion of putting surfaces to TifEagle bermuda grass will give us one of the most complete golf experiences in the southeast.”

Westhaven is celebrating the course’s reopening with a series of events and tournaments, including the Tom Skube Memorial Tournament. Skube, who passed away earlier this year, was the vice president of single-family development at Southern Land Company, which developed the club in 2008 and 2009.

“The opportunity to honour Tom Skube and his impact on this project is very special to me,” said Lammi. “He was one of the most wonderful, humble, and caring gentlemen I have ever had the pleasure of working with, and we are proud to support his children this way.”

A second phase of work involving the redesign and renovation of five more green complexes will take place in summer 2022.
