Winter 2023 issue of ASGCA’s By Design magazine is out now

The Winter 2023 issue of By Design magazine from the American Society of Golf Course Architects is now available in digital format.

In the cover story of the latest edition, golf course architects describe how they have gone about infusing the heritage of a club into their work, while delivering a final product that will appeal to its members and guests. Drew Rogers, Jim Nagle, Nathan Crace and Mark Mungeam share insights into their decision-making at clubs in Wisconsin, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Tennessee and Massachusetts.

This issue of By Design also includes an interview with the new ASGCA president Mike Benkusky. He talks about how he got into the profession of golf course architecture, his work on courses designed by Golden Age architects, the value of collaboration and his goals for the future.

Elsewhere, there are profiles of the nine golf course projects recognized in the 2023 ASGCA Environmental Excellence Awards, covering eight US states and one project in Costa Rica. There is also a collage of images from the 2023 ASGCA Annual Meeting, which was held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

There’s much more too, including news of the Lester George’s design by for the new Contentment club in Traphill, North Carolina, details of the ASGCA Foundation’s first ever ‘Design Boot Camp’, and the ASGCA’s search for a new Executive Director.

By Design is free of charge. To subscribe, visit the By Design page of the ASGCA website, where you can also review the entire back catalogue.
