A new golf course by Faldo Design in Qiddiya City, Saudi Arabia, will open in 2026.
Qiddiya is one of the world’s largest city developments and is around 45 kilometres away from Riyadh. The city is home to various sporting and entertainment facilities and will also have a Nicklaus Design course.
The Faldo layout has been built in a dramatic location with the 200-metre cliffs of the Tuwaiq Mountains serving as a backdrop on most holes. According to a release by the development’s media partner, 54, the course has been designed with playability and innovative golf experiences in mind. The layout includes a three-hole loop to allow players a quick round and floodlights for evening play. The course has been grassed with Platinum TE paspalum, supplied by Atlas Turf Arabia.
Qiddiya has also become a global partner of the Faldo Series to help support grassroots golf in the Kingdom and will host Faldo Series events.
“Qiddiya City’s partnership with Sir Nick Faldo in designing a new golf course and becoming global partner of the Faldo Series underscores our commitment to growing the game of golf and nurturing the next generation of Saudi golfers,” said Abdullah bin Nasser Aldawood, managing director of Qiddiya Investment Company.
Nick Faldo added: “This is a unique opportunity to become involved in one of the most exciting cities being developed today where a new way of city life is fused together with sport, entertainment and culture. Our partnership with Qiddiya City brings together the golf community with a whole nation bubbling with energy to be active and try new sports.”
A state-of-the-art clubhouse, academy and practice facilities will open in 2028. The clubhouse will include golf, leisure, fitness and wellness facilities as well as meeting places, indoor and outdoor pools, and a variety of food and beverage options.
