Al Hamra Golf Club in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates, has reopened its golf course following a five-hole renovation by Harradine Golf.

Work at the Troon Golf-managed facility, which has hosted multiple DP World Tour events, has been completed with the aim of elevating the playing experience while preserving the course’s distinct character.

Original course architect Peter Harradine oversaw the 90-day project, which included the complete redesign of holes fifteen, sixteen and seventeen, as well as modifications to the sixth and eighth holes.

“This project reflects our ongoing investment in creating world-class experiences that enhance the Al Hamra community, where exceptional golf, hospitality and residential living come together,” said Benoy Kurien, group chief executive officer of Al Hamra. “By working alongside Troon International and Peter Harradine, we have ensured the course not only preserves its unique charm but evolves to meet the expectations of today’s golfers and tomorrow’s visitors.”

The sixth’s landing area has been shifted to the right, while a bunker that defines shot strategy on this hole has been reconfigured, with the original feel of the hole maintained. On the eighth, a new tee has been built to the left of the current set, offering a new playing angle and aligns better with the redesigned sixteenth hole.

The fifteenth green and surrounds have been expanded, allowing for a more forgiving long iron approach shots while retaining the hole’s signature bunkering on either side of the green. The sixteenth has a new tournament tee, extending the hole to 492 yards. Harradine has also created a new, 40-yard-wide, multi-tiered green complex.

At the seventeenth, the hole has been slightly lengthened for tournament play, but the main changes are the new bunkers along the left side of the fairway. The green has also been expanded and now features a slope from right to left.

“Our primary goal has been to preserve the character and charm of Al Hamra Golf Club while introducing new design features that improve strategy, aesthetics and playability,” said Paul Booth, general manager at Al Hamra. “Working once again with Peter Harradine and his team allows us to both honour the original design philosophy and introduce fresh elements that will excite golfers of all levels. This project underscores our commitment to continuous improvement and maintaining Al Hamra’s position as one of the UAE’s most enjoyable and scenic golf courses.”

Clinton Southorn, director of construction and agronomy of Troon International, said: “This renovation further demonstrates Al Hamra’s commitment to providing world-class golf experiences. The collaboration with Peter Harradine ensures the original design integrity is not only preserved but strengthened for the next generation of golfers. We’re incredibly proud of the team’s effort and thank the ownership for their vision behind this project – it’s a perfect example of Troon’s focus on quality, consistency and innovation across our global portfolio.”
