RTJ II to oversee renovation, which includes rerouting, regrassing plus work on greens and bunkers

Cabo Real, a private residential and lifestyle community in Los Cabos, Mexico, is renovating its Robert Trent Jones II golf course with an anticipated reopening of late 2027.
After 32 years as a resort course, it will transition to a private golf club exclusively for Cabo Real members.
“Cabo Real is a very special place, one we first scouted on horseback, moving through arroyos with panoramic views of the Sea of Cortez in the distance on every hole,” said Robert Trent Jones II. “It has always had an adventurous spirit, and this new chapter with Cabo Real allows us to honour the original vision while making the course more playable, strategic and enjoyable for members.”
The project will include four new holes (the first, seventh, eighth and ninth), alongside renovations to the greens and bunkers across all 18 holes. The course will also feature an enhanced routing, with the first hole beginning at the new clubhouse and the signature finishing hole ending beside it.
Also, the course’s irrigation system will be upgraded, playing surfaces will be regrassed, four new comfort stations will be built, and cart paths will be resurfaced.
In addition, RTJ II has designed a new five-hole short course with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean from every hole. A new dual-sided driving range, putting green and chipping green will also be built.
The golf course renovation comes as the Endless Surf wave basin nears opening (December 2026), as well as the club surpassing $200 million in real estate sales. The first homes are expected to be completed by May 2027. Membership at Cabo Real is reserved for real estate owners, with access to club amenities limited to members and invited guests.
