Boca Raton closes in on decision for municipal course

The Greater Boca Raton Beach & Park District is considering proposals for the renovation of the course at the now-closed Ocean Breeze Golf Club in Boca Raton, Florida, with a view to choosing a golf course architect by the end of January 2018.

The new golf course, which will be known as Boca National Golf Course, will provide residents of the city with an alternative to the Boca Raton Municipal Golf Course, which will close within the next 18 months, following its $65 million sale to developer GL Homes.

Fifteen firms have submitted proposals for the redesign and rebuilding of the 27-hole facility, which is to include new irrigation, landscaping, a practice range and additional facilities.

According to the Sun Sentinel, district executive director Arthur Koski asked commissioners to narrow the list of firms by the district’s 16 January 2018 meeting and “decide who you want to come forward and make presentations.” He wants a firm chosen by the end of January as the closing date for the Ocean Breeze sale is set for the end of February.
