CDP and KruseGolf develop masterplan for Australia’s Catalina club
Clayton, DeVries & Pont (CDP) and KruseGolf have developed a renovation plan for Catalina Club in New South Wales, Australia.
The club is a four-hour drive south of Sydney and a two-hour drive east of Canberra. It was formed in 1920 as a five-hole course and was then expanded to nine in 1930, to 18 by Al Howard in the 1960s and then to 27 in the 1980s.
“Lukas Michel and I are members at Metropolitan on the Melbourne Sandbelt, which is a masterclass in how to make strategically interesting golf on flattish ground,” said Mike Clayton, partner at CDP. “Greens best approached from one side of a fairway are a key element of such courses. We look forward to working with Harley to create the best coastal course between Sydney and Melbourne.”
CDP’s masterplan includes routing changes to allow for a new driving range to be built on the current first and ninth fairways. Work will begin in 2026 on holes one to nine, then 2028 for holes ten to eighteen and then 2029 for holes nineteen to twenty-seven.

Mitchel Judd, assistant general manager at Catalina club said: “We are thrilled to be working with Harley Kruse and CDP. We feel they will produce something unique in New South Wales’s golfing landscape.”
CDP and KruseGolf are also working together on a number of other courses, including Royal Perth, Portsea, Kew, Yering Meadows and Woodlands.
