Chuck Corica renovations underway

Renovations have begun at The Chuck Corica Golf Complex in Alameda, California.

The first phase of improvements sees the driving range close to the public for four to six weeks while work is done, and marks the beginning of the US$6.7 million project, which will see the redesign of the Jack Clark South Course that will transform it into a links-style course.

The driving range renovation will see artificial turf replaced with real grass, real target greens, new mats and balls, and new grass hitting stations.

Other features of the complex-wide renovation project include a new short-game practice area, new cart paths, and improved drainage and grassing on the Earl Fry North Course, as well as a makeover for the nine-hole Mif Albright course.

Greenway Golf, which recently signed a 25-year lease agreement to operate and manage the golf operations at Chuck Corica, has assigned the task of redesigning the South Course to Rees Jones Golf Course Design.

Included in the plans for the South Course’s renovation are the installation of more open fairways, fresh grass and a soil cap, which will go a long way to improving drainage.
