Mackenzie & Ebert to advise on Turnberry’s Ailsa course enhancements

The Mackenzie & Ebert Design firm has been selected by The Trump Organization to consider enhancements to the Ailsa Course at the Turnberry Resort.

Mackenzie & Ebert has provided golf course architecture advice to Turnberry on the Ailsa course since the firm’s formation in 2005. This included the changes made ahead of the 2009 Open.

Martin Ebert will be in charge of the work, and said: “We are delighted to be able to continue our work at the magnificent Turnberry Resort. The opportunity to use the wonderful coastal stretch which the Ailsa course enjoys will allow the course to become even more photogenic.”

Trump’s organisation purchased the Turnberry Resort earlier this year, and Donald Trump said of the appointment: “Peter Dawson’s and the R&A’s recommendation of Martin has been so well received by everybody. I very much look forward to working with Martin on bringing the already great Ailsa course to an even higher level.”

Turnberry is one of five Open Championship venues on which Mackenzie & Ebert currently advise, the others being Royal St. George’s, Royal Lytham and St Annes, Royal Troon and Carnoustie.

It was also recently announced that Mackenzie & Ebert would advise on the Royal Portrush Golf Club upon changes to its course should its membership accepts the R&A’s invitation to return to The Open rota.
