Quivira Los Cabos work underway

Construction work has begun at the new Jack Nicklaus signature course at the Quivira residential development in Los Cabos, Mexico.

The 18-hole course lies at the tip of the Baja peninsula and when completed, seven of the holes will play to or along the ocean.

Diamond Golf International is building the course and Salvador Rodriguez, the firm’s owner, has a rich history of working on Nicklaus Signature courses in Latin America.

Senior Design Associate Chris Cochran confirmed that eight holes have been rough-shaped, irrigation goes in on April 1st, and construction is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

The course almost reaches the 7,200 yards mark, and will be the sixteenth course Nicklaus has designed in Mexico, and the number of courses designed by Jack Nicklaus Design will reach 24, far more than any other developer in Mexico.

Once completed, Quivira Los Cabos will be his 300th completed course. Rodriguez will be working alongside developer Ernesto Coppel Kelly, owner and founder of Pueblo Bonito Hotels and Resorts.

“There truly won’t be a golf course like this in Los Cabos or anywhere else, for that matter,” said Rodriguez. The course will form part of the Quivira residential development, and is one of two courses in the master plan for Quivira Los Cabos.

Nicklaus has previously expressed his desire to build one of his Jack Nicklaus Golf Clubs at some point in the future on the site, which covers 1,850-acre and includes over three miles of beach.
