Renovation work close to completion at Stockton Seaview’s Bay Course

A renovation of the Bay Course at Stockton Seaview Hotel & Golf Club in Galloway, New Jersey, is set to be completed by 1 April ahead of the 2014 season.

Originally designed by Donald Ross in 1914 and host of the 1942 PGA Championship, the recent project at the Bay Course has seen the levelling, squaring and returfing of all tees, in addition to the construction of four new tees at holes four, five, ten and twelve. A large bunker complex between holes four and five has also been introduced.

150 yards will be added to the links-style course, one of two courses at Stockton Seaview. The other is the Pines Course, the first nine holes of which were designed in 1927 by William Flynn with an additional nine holes added in 1957, designed by William Gordon.

Total Turf carried out the recent work at the Bay Course, which will be host to the 2014 ShopRite LPGA Classic between 26 May and 1 June later this year.

“The course renovation will create a greater playing experience for the ladies of the LPGA, as well as golfers of all levels, and we are very excited that this project is being completed during our centennial in 2014,” said Kevin DeDonato, director of golf at Seaview Hotel & Golf Club.
