Delray Dunes reopens following renovation led by Scot Sherman

Delray Dunes Golf & Country Club in Boynton Beach, Florida, has reopened its 1969 Pete Dye layout following the implementation of a new master plan by Scot Sherman.

In what he refers to as a ‘sympathetic restoration’, Sherman, who previously worked with the Dyes, has brought back features that have been altered over the years, as well as restoring some green contours and introducing new features inspired by other Dye designs from the period.

Sherman said: “My history at Delray Dunes has become more of a love story. A love for Pete, Alice, and their ideas. A love for this club. And a love for the staff and members there. The Dyes have inspired my work for a long time, and I feel sure they would be pleased about this version of their course.”

In addition to the design changes, a completely new irrigation system has been installed, sandy shell areas restored and bulkheads upgraded. Golf course superintendent David Tandy oversaw day-to-day work on the project, MacCurrach Golf Construction handled all aspects of construction, Sean Hyduk of Aqua Turf International directed the irrigation design, and Greenway Bridge crafted all the wood treatments on the course.
