Kari Haug is the founder of the PlayablePathways approach to design of the golf course. This approach applies golf course design techniques and methods to improve the playability and access to the golf course for all golfers, but with special attention to the issues that specifically affect seniors, women and other slow swing speed players. The result is a product that truly improves playability for all golfers. As one of the few female golf course architects in the world, Haug’s approach to designing the golf experience is unique. In addition to bringing different life perspectives to the design table, she has done research on the slow swing speed player’s hitting metrics and uses the data from this study to design golf holes and course lengths that are data-driven. Haug has experience in phased developments and creating sustainable plans that will help to safeguard the future of the game. She is also a member of the European Institute of Golf Course Architects and serves on its council as the diversity, equity and inclusion committee chair.
